Team of the Month - November

The team of the month for November is . . . the York House Hockey Teams.

With the Junior and Senior Inter House Hockey competitions happening in November, all of the girls were eager to demonstrate the skills they had been honing all term. None more eager than the Senior York Team who were spoken about as early favourites for the competition. The billing as pre-tournament can sometimes be a burden on individuals and teams - golf fans, think of Jordan Spieth's meltdown at the Masters in 2016, or Greg Norman's in 1996 - but for this York Hockey Team, they were buoyed by the pre-tournament hype. The team went on to win their two games with the defence holding firm to not let in a single goal.

It was then up to the Juniors to follow the example that the Seniors had set - this was going to be a lot tougher as Harewell and Newby had a number of strong hockey players across the junior year groups. The York girls found inspiration from the Seniors' victory the week before, narrowly managing to find just enough goals and victories to pip Newby and Harewell to the title.

Well done to the York Hockey Teams for a great month of hockey.
